Skil Power Tools

The Do-It-Yourselfer Line of Power Tool

Skil Power Tools

Skil power tools have been around for many years. I remember the big heavy skil saws and skil jigsaw my Dad had on the workbench when I was young.

Of course the Skil belt sander was the only power tool he let me use at that age. Even then it was all that I could handle.

Today Skil makes power tools that are not like the ones our Dads used.

A Brief History of Skil

Edmond Michel invented the world's first electric handsaw in 1924 for use by workers to cut cane sugar. In that same year the Michel Electric Handsaw Company was created.

By 1926 the Michel Electric Handsaw Company was renamed Skilsaw Inc.

Skil Model E Circular SawIn 1928 the Skilsaw Model E circular was created utilizing a die-cast aluminum motor housing. This design has been shaped and further developed into what is known as the Skilsaw Model 77.

Decades of refinement and devlopment have continued to keep the Skilsaw model 77, in one form or another, on retail store shelves to this day.

In 1992 Skil entered into a joint venture with Robert Bosch, forming the S-B Power Tool Company, a subsidiary of Bosch tools.

After almost 85 years Skil is still one of the most recognized names in the industry. They make more than 50 different reliable yet economical tools for the do-it-yourselfer.
